Ion Tweeter
Forget silk, metal, or some funky composite. The High Violoncello II from Germany’s Acapella has a massless ion tweeter.
All the info after the jump.
The ion tweeter uses a high-voltage pulsating arc that is modulated by the musical signal to create sound. A small ceramic tube and a bronze horn act as a catalyst preventing the small of ozone from getting out into the room. Acapella claims the upper limits of this tweeter is 40kHz.
Surprisingly, the High Violoncello II is quite efficient, only needing amplifiers of 15 watts.
The horn is available in any automotive paint color.
PRICE:
High Violoncello II: $80,500/pair
