Danish Delight
When it comes to Bang & Olufsen, we’ll admit it: We’re fanboys.
Some companies sizzle with style and flair, some propagate performance, but few meld both as deliciously and consistently as those dudes from Denmark.
The latest example of their magnificent handiwork is the BeoSound 5, which it dubs “a modern-day juke box.”
B&O’s first fully digital audio system is designed to give “a strong physical presence to a virtual music environment,” with an interface that incorporates an aluminum scroll wheel, tactile buttons, laser pointer and 10.4-inch LCD display.
This interface provides access to countless internet radio stations and approximately 20,000 songs stored in the lossless WMA format on a 500 GB storage unit that can be hidden from sight.
A proprietary computer algorithm monitors musical selections and builds playlists of similar songs based on sound, dynamics and rhythm, not merely genre.
No wonder we love these guys.
PRICE: $5,900 plus $500, $250, or $100, respectively, for floor stand, table stand or wall mount.
