Invisible Speaker
Live-Wall has announced it has started production of the LW1218, a truly invisible speaker that mounts in a wall, and is then painted/mudded/wallpapered over.
All the info after the jump.
The Live-Wall, distributed by Bay Audio, has a 2-inch voice coil driven by an oversized neodymium motor. The diaphragm, which is in direct contact with whatever you decide to cover the speaker with, is woven fiberglass.
The frequency response is a claimed 54 Hz to 20,000 Hz and an output of 102 dB at 1 meter (how much power is needed to create that output wasn't given).
The 12-inch by 18-inch panel is only 7/8ths of an inch deep.
The Live-Wall is water resistant, so it can be mounted in showers, steam rooms, or even on
boats.
A fire-rated backbox is available for new construction, though retrofit install is just as easy (check out the video below).
PRICE:
LW1218: $750
LW1218-BOX (backbox): $300
