Netgear takes the concept of Network Attached Storage to the next level with the introduction of Stora, an internet-capable media hub that’s as far-reaching as it is easy to use. Stora allows you to safely store all of your movies, music, photos, and data files in a secure centralized location and access them from anywhere in the world, as long as you can get to a computer with a working web connection or a supported smart phone. (Netgear demonstrated the system using an iPhone at their press conference.)
In addition to DLNA compliance for full network streaming around the home to computers, game consoles, and compatible TVs, Stora allows you to, for example, instantly beam your vacation photos home the day you take them, as well as automatically sync them up with social media sites like Facebook and Flickr. And for you non-internet-savvy friends and family, Stora will generate custom URLs that allow anyone you wish to have selective access to pics of the grandkids or snapshots from your most recent tequila sunrise.
Stora is available now for $249.99
