Parasound Upgrades Preamplifier

August 25, 2010 By Liz Palacios

Parasound has a new preamplifier, which stems from the company’s widely acclaimed Halo JC 2 stereo preamplifier. This new version is called the JC 2 BP. Parasound’s new preamp now includes a home theater bypass function that allows the device and its companion power amplifier and speakers to be connected as the front left and right-channels of a surround sound system.

John Curl, the designer of the JC 2 series, developed this upgraded version after Parasound realized “how many people would want to blend a JC 2 into their surround system,” according to Richard Schram, president and founder of Parasound. So lo and behold, Curl got to work and created the JC 2 BP.

Some of the features include:

  • 6 pairs unbalanced RCA line-level audio input jacks
  • 2 of the input pairs can be switched to XLR balanced connectors
  • Home Theater Bypass mode (BP) available on any pair of inputs
  • Dual-mono left and right channel circuit boards minimize crosstalk
  • 3/8” thick aluminum shielding around audio boards, which prevent noise
  • Vampire brand 24k gold-plated RCA jacks
  • Parasound 5 year parts, 5 year labor warranty for US and Canada
